What is Norwich Opportunity Area?
Norwich Opportunity Area is DFE funded project aiming to improve social mobility and support every child and young person in Norwich to reach their full potential. One of the key aims of the programme is to support development of speech, language and communication skills in children before they start school.
Given Covid restrictions, schools and settings have struggled to run their usual transition activities to help children feel ready for their new start and know what to expect when they arrive. In response to this, NOA have worked with colleagues to create virtual tours, welcome videos, top tips resources and school readiness activity videos, all aiming to help children and their parents feel confident taking this important next step and help children settle well into their new environment so they are ready to learn.
Virtual Tours
The Norwich Opportunity Area have been working with ALL Primary, Infant & Junior schools & 21 nurseries across Norwich to produce Virtual Tours and Welcome Videos to help ease children and parents anxiety about transition. Seeing the school layout and exploring the classroom with your child can help ease their anxiety about starting a new setting.
