Kelly from Friend in Deed will be there to chat to you about her brilliant scheme bringing older and younger generations together. She will hopefully be joined by two crafty folks who will be there to demo knitting/crochet skills and pass on their skills to younger ones!
Friend in Deed is a social enterprise that is helping create friendship across generations by organising projects that aim to enrich the lives of others with the primary aim of promoting kindness. FiD runs a Little Visitors scheme, where parents are able to take children of all ages into care homes, sheltered housing and other provisions for older people to play games, spend time with residents, building long-term friendships sustained by the continuity of regular visits.
Our scheme helps to enhance the lives of older people by facilitating engagement with children to brighten mood, improve mental health and promote integration in the local community. This meaningful interaction can also nurture empathy and teach new skills and knowledge to younger generations, whilst filling voids for those without their own grandparents. We are always looking for more little visitors and we would love to hear from you.
