I didn’t want to mention the F word (Father Christmas) to the Mini Mumblers too soon because I knew they would be asking, and asking, and asking when they would be going to see him, along with “is it Christmas today, Mummy?” for the eleventy billionth time. BUT, as we were invited to The Santa Experience at Wroxham Barns on the 30th November I had to tell them…and as soon as I mentioned what we were going to do, they were EX.CI.TED.
The children were all invited to start their Elf College lessons: Elf & Safety, Window Peeping, Tiptoeing and Learning the Elfabet. The Elves were brilliant with the children and were quick with jokes to keep the adults entertained.
After the lessons there’s crafting to be done. Each child gets a little envelope with everything they need. One enveloped had some sewing in, which was quite hard in the poor lighting of the barn, the other had some foam stickers to make up an animal, which was much easier to do for younger ones.
The children began to hear the unmistakable bells of Santa so quickly sat back down on the floor area and in he came. Mini Mumbler’s face when she saw him was an absolute picture. (Someone on the Mumbler FB page messaged to ask me if the Santa had a real beard. I don’t think it was, but like some fake Santa beards, it wasn’t so obviously fake that it made me worry the children would point it out!) Middle Mumbler was slightly more unsure, but she was also working on a no nap day so wasn’t quite her usual self.
Luckily, unlike a grotto, you don’t just get a few minutes with the Big Guy and then out you go. He stays in the room with you all for a while. One of the Elves reads out some information about each child (supplied by parents when you book!) as they go to him to collect their gift and then there’s more time for photos with him afterwards. I thought this was a good way to ‘introduce’ younger ones to Santa, especially if you think they might be unsure.
One of the biggest plus points of The Santa Experience is the REAL REINDEER. The experience is based in the Junior Farm of Wroxham Barns and you are free to spend time in the farm itself to see all their animals, but only people on The Santa Experience get to see the reindeer as they are in a covered area (only accessed by the special golden coins given to the children by Santa!).
All-in-all the whole experience lasted around 2 hours and the fact we could go and see the other animals and play in the soft play area made it seem a great value Christmassy day out.
Don’t forget Mumblers get 10% off with the code MUMBLERWB
Prices range from £10.25 per child (aged 2 and above), from £7.75 for Under 2’s and include all of the above PLUS all-day unlimited access to indoor play and all the other Junior Farm activities. Discounts available for Season Ticket Holders and Adults.
This was a sponsored review post, but it is absolutely not worth getting put on the Naughty list for writing anything other than my honest opinions. Mumbler reviews are always 100% honest.
