We’ve been to Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure a fair few times and, back in my teaching days, it was one of my favourite places to take my classes on class trips, but things are a little bit different this year (understatement!!) and I know people are still feeling a bit unsure about venturing out to places they feel might be busy.
I had a little look at the Covid section of the Roarr! website before we visited and I felt confident they had put in place everything they could to make sure everyone was as safe as possible.
You are able to book a time slot to enter the park and even though there was quite a lot of people when we arrived, we didn’t have to queue for very long. We managed to book a soft play session in Dinomite and were told that they are currently running 1 hour time slots with half an hour in between each one for the place to be cleaned. I haven’t been very keen to take my Mini Mumblers to soft play before now, but because of the cleaning time Roarr! were allowing in between sessions, I felt ok about it.
The park is HUGE, so keeping distance from people around the park is relatively easy. The Mini Mumblers had a good run around and climb on everything until it was time to go to the soft play.
Before we entered Dinomite, we were reminded to use the hand sanitiser, keep 2m distance and to wear masks whilst inside, unless eating. Even though there is a limit of 120 people inside and Roarr! have put measures in place, I did feel that it was busy and there were quite a few people who were not keeping a 2m distance when moving around. I think it’s important to remember that even with all the measures in place, it is still everyone’s responsibility to keep apart.
After soft play and lunch we thought we’d hit the Werewolf trail to find out whether there was a werewolf in the woods. The queue for this was quite long and slow-moving so we nipped off to do some Halloween Witchcrafts with Bobble-de-boop the witch, which was a great chance for the Mini Mumblers to have a sit down and do something a little bit calmer.
The queue was still really long for the Werewolf trail when we went back and I overheard a member of staff saying they were short staffed, which would explain why it took so long. I would recommend going to do the trail early in the day, or whenever you see that the queue is short. The trail is a guided tour where you have to search for the werewolf clues: footprints, claw marks, hair and poo! We found the werewolf, but don’t worry a member of staff had got him to sleep, so we got out OK.
We missed out on Vincent the Vampire as I didn’t realise how to get to there until we’d left the park! Make sure you pick up a map when you enter so you don’t miss out.
As always, the Mini Mumblers had a fab time doing all the activities and have become quite used to using hand gel regularly and seeing people wearing masks. From a personal view, I think Roarr! would benefit from having some more hand gel stations around the outdoor play areas, so maybe take your own if you want to make sure you’re covered.
