Let’s face it, if going to the supermarket by yourself feels like a holiday, being invited to enjoy spa facilities and an afternoon tea for 2 feels like an all-inclusive trip to the Maldives!
Mr Mumbler, lover of spas and food, jumped at the chance to come with me (there has to be some perks to putting up with me tip-tapping on my computer doing Mumbler work EVERY evening, right?).
So, during the GREAT SNOW of 2018, otherwise known as the ‘Beast of the East’, we headed over to Park Farm Hotel & Leisure in Hethersett, just outside of Norwich.
The Hotel
The original Georgian country house is situated at the end of a long driveway with no other buildings surrounding it. There are 53 hotel rooms, Leisure Club and Imagine Spa. The Leisure club offers spa facilities including a 16m indoor heated swimming pool and state-of-the-art gymnasium.
Spa Facilities
We went on a Tuesday day time and I expected it to be quiet, but there were actually a fair few people using the facilities. It didn’t feel crowded however, and we enjoyed a swim, sauna and time in the steam room before heading to the jacuzzi, which is situated up a few stairs at the top of the swimming pool in its own area. Chilled tap water is also on offer. Some areas look a little tired but everywhere is clean and well-kept. It might have been because it was a really cold snowy day, but I found the changing rooms slightly too chilly – perhaps make sure you take warm clothing to put on as soon as you’re changed!
Imagine Spa
I tried to book in for a treatment the week before we were due to go but they were already booked up, so I recommend trying to get an appointment as soon as you know you’re going.
Afternoon Tea
For someone who is such an avid cake lover, it’s quite surprising that I haven’t had a traditional tiered afternoon tea before. This afternoon tea was absolutely the highlight of my trip to Park Farm.
The sandwich bread was fresh, soft and fluffy. The scones were crunchy on the outside, melt-in-the-mouth on the inside (as you can see from the picture I like a generous amount of jam and cream, and it’s JAM FIRST, people!!) and the little treats on the top were delicious.
Afternoon Tea is normally served at 3pm but as I’d left Nana Mumbler with both kiddies, I’d asked if we could have it at 12.15pm to get back in time for the Teeny One’s second nap, which they were happy to do. The staff were really accommodating, friendly and super attentive.
It might not quite be the same as an all-inclusive trip to the Maldives, but it’s a great way to spend a few child-free hours relaxing!

You can win an afternoon tea for 2 and access to the spa facilities, plus lots of other great prizes, in our MAKE A MOTHER’S DAY giveaway (ends 8th March 2018).
N.B. We were invited to sample a complimentary afternoon tea and the spa facilities for the purposes of a review (I know, tough job but someone’s got to do it!). However, no amount of cakes or jacuzzi time would ever be enough for me to write a dishonest review. All Mumbler reviews contain my honest opinions and always will.
