Guest Blog by Mark Raines at Bump & Beyond Baby and Toddler Fair
This is a question that I imagine many parents and parents-to-be may ask, especially when Google, Alexa and Amazon seem to have all the answers.
Call me old fashioned, but I don’t think you can beat meeting and talking to specialists and professionals in person, touching and trying on clothes and products rather than ordering online.
But that just sounds like a trip to the shops doesn’t it?
A good baby and toddler fair should be a family friendly affair, easy to get to with fun and engaging things for all the family to do and have a go at. There should be a good mix of information, advice and guidance together with some great shopping!
At most good pregnancy to pre school events, you find lots of local ‘not on the high street’ retailers, smaller manufacturers and online retailers offering an exciting mix of gifts, clothing, and everything baby.
A decent sized fair should keep you busy for a couple of hours, so expect somewhere to sit down, relax and enjoy lunch.
Any well organised baby and toddler event will have a dedicated baby change facility and will of course be breastfeeding and feeding friendly.
The next such event in this region is The Norfolk Bump & Beyond Baby and Toddler Fair, which is back for its 3rdyear at The Norfolk Showground Exhibition Arena. The Showground Arena is Norfolk’s largest exhibition venue and is the perfect ‘buggy friendly’ space with no steps or lifts to contend with, and everything indoors on one floor.
The one-day event is open from 10am – 3pm and will be jam-packed with fantastic exhibitors including Mothercare, John Lewis, Smyth’s Toys and many other independent local and national companies of all sizes. The fair also offers a packed programme of activities, talks, demonstrations and free taster sessions in our Live Stage Area that will cover everything from pregnancy to pre-school.
Talks planned for the day range from a talk by the Norfolk County Council Road Safety Team about choosing and fitting the right car seats, to a fun taster session from Rugbytots Norfolk, where your kids can try out rugby for themselves. We have Breastfeeding Norfolk on hand to answer any questions Mums-to-be may have and Jackie Heffer-Cooke from ZenMuma & The Orange Grove will be sharing her knowledge and experience in Hypnobirthing. There will be two pop-up photography studios at the fair, one of which is the well loved Fairies and Elves.
With a bouncy castle and soft play areas plus a visit from from Paw Patrol lookalike Chase there will be loads to keep the kids engaged.
We also have a fabulous food court where visitors can enjoy a range of hot and cold food and drinks.
Each year, the fair supports a local family related Charity raising over £3000 in the last four years. This year’s chosen charity is Time Norfolk, the pregnancy loss charity based in Norfolk.

If you hadn’t planned on visiting a baby and toddler fair I would highly recommend it! There are a few events in the region throughout the year, so if you are expecting your first or your fourth you are sure to find something exciting or learn something new!

Advance discounted tickets are available on the website or you can buy tickets on the door.
