Have you ever wandered past The Garage in Norwich or seen us while scrolling through Facebook and wondered “what goes on there?”
What is The Garage Trust?
Based in the city centre, we’re an independent charity who works with creative people and organisations not just in Norfolk but across the UK. We particularly focus on young people in challenging circumstances, helping them change their lives through the arts via our classes, courses, outreach programmes and referral network.
What do we do?
We’re the place for performing arts in Norwich. There’s something for everyone with a range of dance, music, theatre and fitness classes for all ages and abilities.
Until becoming a dad, I didn’t know children learn quicker between birth and the age of eight than at any other point of their life. When young, we learn best through play which is why it’s never too early to start their creative journey. So, we have our tailor-made My First sessions and shows for ages 1-7.
We also run GCSEs in drama and dance, plus an HNC Performing Arts Foundation Programme covering acting, dance and musical theatre.
There are a range of discounts, special offers and scholarships available.
We also offer bespoke one-to-one sessions and pre-recorded class packages. Our professional theatre, studios and function rooms are also available for hire – including for children’s birthday parties, setting the stage for an unforgettable day.
What are we up to right now?
Lots. This August you can join us for some exciting summer holiday activities for ages 2-16 in our studios.
Head to the beach, have a magic picnic and explore the seven seas with our My First Dance: Summer Holiday, My First Drama: Teddy Bears Picnic, My First Dance: Under The Sea and My First Drama: Piratessessions for 2-4s. Packed with music, dancing, games and storytelling.
Ages 4-7, 7-11 and 11-16 can dive into a world of dance, drama and musical theatre with The Garage’s Performing Arts Summers Clubs, all run by expert tutors.
The D4Dance Summer Club for ages 12+ with special educational needs and or disabilities returns. A friend, dance partner or essential companion are very welcome.
Join us at The Garage and also outside The Forum 23 July for some exciting summer family fun.
There’ll be music, dancing, theatre activities and the chance to find out more about this year’s My First Panto from a magical special guest. The Garage will be holding an open day with tours and free taster classes. We will also be previewing some special films about what we do.
Come help us celebrate the end of lockdown. We can’t wait to see you!
