****Intro by Katrin written in 2019, but all information below is relevant to 2020 admissions.*
This time last year it was our turn to fill out the application form for Mini Mumbler to start school in September 2017 (I did it two nights before the deadline – haha!) and even though I was a Reception teacher for many years, I still felt nervous clicking ‘SEND’. If you didn’t see it last year, I wrote a ‘Letters from a Teacher’ post when I was feeling all emotional about sending Mini Mumbler off to school – apologies to those it made cry…I totally cried like a big sop when I wrote it!
“The admission round for entry to reception classes in September 2020 is open from Friday 27 September 2019. The round closes Wednesday 15 January 2020.”
When does a child start school?
If your child was born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016, they are due to start school in reception class in the school year starting September 2020. By law they must be offered a full-time place from September 2020
Parents are entitled to defer their child’s admission or request that their child attend on a part-time basis. By law, children must start statutory education full-time no later than the beginning of the term following their fifth birthday
