If your child loves to follow a trail, this one might top the lot.
A total of 16 Lego models based on the story of The Snowman and The Snowdog, including 4 giant models made from thousands of bricks.
From 30th November 2019 to 5th January 2020, visitors at Banham Zoo will be able to follow the Lego trail around the zoo and enjoy seeing the animals at the same time. Each model has a panel with information including how many bricks it contains and how long it took to build.
From comedy snowmen to a grandfather clock, as you reach the end of the trail, there are 4 large models including The Snowman of course which stands at 1.8 metres tall. There are great photo opportunities – and some very magical snow falling which made my daughter’s jaw almost drop to the ground.
Now, if you’re going in the daytime, enjoy the trail at your leisure, study the intricate details of the lego and take part fully.
If like me, you go in the evening, obviously it’s very dark *duh* I made the mistake of letting my toddler free from his buggy constraints and then spent the next frantic half hour chasing him past the amazing models and vaguely acknowledging them, much to the amusement of my 11 year old who was in charge of photography. However, it is magical at the zoo when everything is lit up in the evening even if you’re running at speed…
On Saturday evenings from 30th Nov to 21st December the zoo is staying open until 7pm so that you can enjoy the fabulous festive lights. Father Christmas is in his workshop until 6.30pm on Saturdays. A visit costs an extra £6.95 per child, but this includes a gift and a free child zoo admission voucher for a return visit, valid until 31st March 2020.
We didn’t get the opportunity to see him as we were visiting quite late and the toddler was rapidly descending into bedtime territory, so I made a hasty promise to find Santa at his next venue and we were there to visit the Snowman and the Snowdog anyway… phew! Make sure you book a ticket for Santa, he’s also at the zoo in the Christmas holidays.
You don’t have to be a fan of Lego or the film to love this trail. It’s detailed, inventive and lots of fun. My 11 year old now wants Lego for Christmas – which makes a lovely change from gaming – my 8 year old is still trying to work out how they made it snow, and my 1 year old is now friends with the Sea Lions who were possibly trying to sleep…
Don’t rush, take it at your leisure and enjoy meeting the Snowman and the Snowdog and all the marvellous zoo animals. The trail is included in the standard admission price.
