We are My First Panto veterans! In fact, I think we’ve been to every one of the My First Pantos and they are one of our faves.
We’ve now been to so many of their performances, I can honestly say if you’re worried about taking your little one, don’t. The shows are always pacy and the actors are great at reacting to what the audience say to them, or what they’re doing. The children are allowed to be children, in all their interrupting and excitable glory! Joining in is positively encouraged and it isn’t a problem if you have to leave to pop to the loo or do a nappy change.
A few of our favourite elements weren’t there this year (last year the children got to play along with props and help one of the characters ‘pick vegetables’ etc), which I’m guessing is down to Covid, but the spirit of panto is there with all the audience joining in together to help the main character, Cinderella.
I often get asked what ages I recommend the show for. I took along my 2.5-year-old, nearly 5-year-old and my 7-year-old and each one really enjoyed it. In the past I’ve taken mine as young as 6-months-old and even though they don’t get a lot out of the story, they’ve still enjoyed the live theatre/music aspect.
My First Panto at the Garage is a firm favourite with Mumbler and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
