Ok, I admit that I MAY miss being a teacher during the festive season; getting glitter everywhere and generally crafting it up! So, I’ve put together some of the Christmas themed items I’ve made with classes in the past that are relatively easy and can be done with items from home or after a quick trip to the pound shop or Hobbycraft…
Let me know if you make any of them, or join the Norwich Mumbler Chat Group…we’d love to see the pics!
2. Lollipop Stick Stars/Snowflakes: You might need a wood glue or glue gun to make sure the sticks stick.
3. Paint your windows: Ok, so some people will be filled with dread and wonder why on earth I would suggest this, BUT you can paint on windows using Little Brian Paint sticks and it wipes off easily with a damp cloth or baby wipe.
4. Salt dough ornaments: A classic for making cheap and easy decorations or for making hand print presents. Recipe
5. Paper Plate Wreath: This kept my class busy for ages one year because they had to cut out all the leaves themselves, haha!
6. Melted Snowman Biscuits: This recipe uses pre-made biscuits (much easier with kids when their main focus is on the decoration) but if you have little star bakers you could make cookies from scratch too.
7. Reindeer headwear: A personal favourite of mine. I always liked making these for the whole class so they had something to wear for the school Christmas dinner (and it meant I could spot my kiddies easily in the hall!) Make a band to go around your child’s head, draw around their hands for the antlers then pop on eyes and a red nose!
8. HANDPRINTS: I don’t think there’s anything you can’t turn your child’s handprint into; Christmas trees, reindeer, even Santa himself! (Grandparents eat this stuff up too, I don’t think a Christmas/birthday has gone by where the Grandmumblers haven’t received a handprint!!)
Well, there you have it 8 ideas of things to do to get Christmas Crafty with your little ones. If you have something crafty that you love doing feel free let me know and I’ll add them on…contact HERE.
Something I haven’t tried, but is on my list:
