Enjoy our marvellous city and let us know if you have any other ideas for things to do with toddlers in the city HERE.
The Forum and Norwich Millennium Library
The Forum is a free community hub in the heart of the city which usually has a free event taking place. Inside there is a fantastic children’s library where you can relax as your toddler runs free exploring this amazing space.
Norwich Market
Right in the heart of the city, this outdoor market is fantastic with over 200 stalls to choose from. From crafts and gifts, toys, food and drink, flowers and services, this is one of the oldest and biggest outdoor markets in the country.
Keep hold of your toddlers though, the market is clearly mapped out but those small lanes and the busy bustle are very exciting to a toddler who can run fast…
Chapelfield Gardens
Norwich is blessed with several amazing green spaces and Chapelfield Gardens is a great place to unwind in the city centre. You will need to walk here as you can’t park nearby unless you are already in a shopping centre car park, then walk from there.
Norwich Castle Gardens
The Castle Keep is currently undergoing renovations, but you can still use the gardens and the surrounding area. Norwich Castle gardens has one of the best views over the city and the shopping centre is just a few steps away for refreshments, shopping and toilets.
City Walks
Of course, you can just enjoy walking round the beautiful historic city, along the river, watching the boats and ducks near the train station or follow a heritage route. My favourite is through the city over Bishop Bridge and past Cow Tower.
Castle Quarter, Soft Play
Inside the Castle Quarter shopping centre, there is a CrazyClub soft play centre, ideal for letting off some energy. The play centre is located within the Super Bowl UK area. Parents can kick back and relax with food and drink from the diner as the children play.
Norwich Cathedral
The walks around this historic Cathedral are beautiful and also great for scooting (avoiding the cobbolds) There’s plenty to see in this peaceful environment which is open to the public. Before the pandemic, there were low cost family days inside the Cathedral with crafts and activities and lots to play with. Sometimes there are indoor markets with lots of local produce to enjoy. The cloisters are worth a visit, and we have scooted round them too! There is also a marvellous cafe inside. There happens to be an important visitor coming soon too… Dippy on Tour at Norwich Cathedral, Summer 2021
Bookbugs and Dragontales
This gem of an independent bookstore is designed with children in mind. The lovely team run events specifically for toddlers and older children from Theatre, to writing, crafts and of course, story time. If you’re just in to browse, there’s plenty of space for families to look round, cosy corners, comfy chairs and even a small cafe with hot and cold drinks and cakes.
Labyrinth
Slightly hidden away in the city, on the first floor of Rose Lane car park off Prince of Wales Road. A play cafe for toddlers, with a snug cinema area, toys and home cooked food as well as snacks and drinks. Laser tag is upstairs for the older children. Book in advance due to Covid restrictions.
