JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Catering staff
Responsible to: Management Team and Management Committee
Hours of Work: Term time only 2.30-5.00/3pm – 10-12 hours per week
Monday – Thursday (Fridays in the future)
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
To prepare and serve a healthy balanced and varied teatime snack for children attending after school club.
To follow the Safer Food Better Business guidelines in relation to Food Hygiene
To be responsible for food stock take and ordering/preparing shopping lists
To ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in the kitchen area
To participate in reviewing termly menus
To promote healthy eating, and social skills at the tea table
To attend staff meetings as requested
To be responsible for washing of cloths, aprons etc
To act as a good role model for both the children and the staff team by encouraging, supporting and demonstrating positive behaviour, and positive language.
To undertake relevant training as agreed with the Management Team
To ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times with regard to staff, committee, child or parent related issues.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
To ensure a safe and secure environment is maintained for all children at all times.
To ensure children’s nutritional needs and dietary requirements are met whilst adhering to food hygiene regulations
To be fully aware of the Club’s Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures
To be aware of fire procedures
To be aware of the need to maintain strict confidentiality at all times

Level 2 Food Safety in Catering Certificate
Previous experience of working in a kitchen/catering environment
Knowledge of Healthy Eating
Ability to communicate in a friendly approachable and positive way with children
Ability to work as part of a team bringing and sharing ideas
Ability to value each child and take full regard of equal opportunities
Ability to implement the club’s policies on child protection, behaviour management and health and safety.
Knowledge of Safeguarding Children and completion of 3 hour Child Protection Training
Experience in an After School Club or working with children
